Google Flights adds a guarantee. Wait, what?

  • Google Flights is backing up their airfare cost prediction feature with a cash back guarantee.
  • It’s a limited time offer, but maybe it’s the beginning of something bigger. Cross fingers.

This is something. Just when you want to hate Google, they go and do something cool.

It’s no secret I love Google Flights, which should be one of your, if not the, first stops when planning your next trip. If you have some flexibility, it’s great for finding and monitoring upcoming flights (other than Southwest, which lives by its own rules, thank you very much).

But Google has apparently upped the ante, as Afar is reporting. For select flights, Google will back their price prediction feature with an actual guarantee, up to $500.

It doesn’t work for all flights, and it’s a limited time offer – perhaps a test for a bigger rollout? One can hope.

Anyway, for flights booked between August 13 and September 2, 2019, for travel completed by November 24, 2019, you can breathe a little easier when plunking down the plastic for a (likely nonrefundable) flight.
