How to add an extension

In case the idea of extensions is new to you, here’s a primer on how to add them. I highly recommend a few, since they almost entirely automate your savings.

I’ll describe the process for Chrome, but it’s largely the same for other browsers.

First, go to the Chrome Web Store, where all the goodness lives.

Make sure “Extensions” is highlighted in the column on the left. If not, click it. In the search panel above, enter the name of the extension you’re looking for. I’m using the RetailMeNot “genie” coupon filler as the example.

Click the “Add to Chrome” button to the right. A popup window will ask you to verify that’s what you want to do.

Click “add extension,” and you’re done. A small icon will appear in your menu bar to the right of the address box. Depending on the extension, you may need to sign in to your account to “activate” it fully, but if you don’t, you’ll get reminders.

There. Now you’re extended, and savings will ensue.
